Selling anything (whether it’s the idea of entrepreneurship to a skeptical spouse or the idea of a loan to your banker) is hard.

However, sooner or later to keep moving toward your goal, you’ll have to move beyond the emotional and into the cerebral, which leads you to step two.
- Think through why you were rejected. Was your small business funding not thorough? Did you pick the wrong angel investor? Was the market not right for your product? Rejection is fortifying and you can learn from it and use it to get better. Ask yourself: What did I just learn? Then move to step three.
- Roadmap your way forward from here. This is the tactical phase where you put your rejection and what you learned from it into actionable insight. Do you need to create a different approach to go after the same goal or was the goal wrong from the beginning?
- Do not give up. One thing that Steve Jobs, J.K. Rowling, and Elon Musk all have in common is that they never gave up. Each rejection forced them forward and motivated them to keep going.
